Meet #1 - 5/26
Hello Swim Families!
Meet #1 is upon us. Each week you will receive this email with important info and reminders regarding the upcoming meet. Attached are the heat sheet (for you to point out) and volunteer assignments. Do not forget to refer to your parent handbook for information and review the What to Bring To a Meet page.
Meet #1-Time Trials - Thursday, May 26th @ Maple Ridge
Set up - 4:00pm. Only set up volunteers should arrive at this time.
CHECK IN- 5pm. All swimmers must check in and get arms marked at check in table.
Volunteers MUST also check in. Please do this when you bring your swimmer to check in.
Meet Starts at 6pm. Swimmers must come ready for the water.
Theme - RED, WHITE and BLUE! Let's kick off the season and holiday weekend in a patriotic way! You can theme anything...clothes, towels, headbands, glowsticks, sharpies, nails. Get creative!
Parking Lot - There will be no parking in the parking lot this season; with the exception of coach's cars and others needing to bring equipment. The parking lot will serve as the sitting area. Be sure to bring chairs, extra towels to sit on, canopies, shade, etc. Canopies must be weighed down somehow. If any wind picks up these can go flying and hurt those nearby. Swimmer and parents must be paying attention to the event numbers and listening out for their turn to line up!
BULLPEN - A bullpen will be set up near the red bench area outside the front gate. This will be for swimmers only; parents may set up nearby. All swimmers are welcome to be in the bullpen, especially if you are a parent working a job. However, we want all 10 and unders in that area so they can be easily called and lined up. We will have bullpen workers keeping an eye and helping call swimmers to line up. Parents, please do not keep your swimmer away form this area for prolonged periods of time. When they are done with a swim, they need to go back to this area. Pay attention to the numbers being called so you do not miss your swim.
Parking - Parking will be on the street only. Cars may ONLY park on the designated sides of the street. There will be signs showing you which side you can park on. This is extremely important as emergency vehicles MUST be able to get through the streets and not be blocked; also to leave fire hydrants accessible.
DROP OFF - We are going to try doing drop off (for swimmers and belongings) again at the bottom of the hill prior to check in time. This MUST be done safely and slowly, and with the direction and discretion of the parking attendant.
REMIND! Text @mrswim22 to 81010 to join
Weather - In the event of bad weather, thunder/lightning, we will communicate with you via REMIND with directions. Plan to make your way to your cars (any car) for safety while we wait it out in the hopes that it will pass quickly. We do swim in the rain!
Concessions - The smell of summer will be coming from the concession stand in the pavilion. They will be selling hamburgers, hotdogs, mac and cheese, assorted candy, sodas, gatorades, pickles.
Volunteer Assignments - Link below will take you to volunteer assignments. Volunteer positions are assigned for meets. We do our best to make these work for each family. Volunteer assignments are for either 1st Half or 2nd Half, unless otherwise mentioned. This means if your swimmer is done with their events, but the first or second half is not yet complete, you may not leave. We will announce when it is time to change from first half volunteers to second half volunteers. If you are scheduled as a first OR second half timer, you must attend the timer meeting at 5:40 on the pool deck.
Parent Spectators - Feel free to come onto the deck at anytime. We will NOT be setting up seating as to have adequate room to function and move about during the meet.
Please use the pavilion gate as much as possible. The front gate will have lines of swimmers going in and out and be right next to the staging area. We need this area to not get congested. This will only slow us down and cause the meet to take longer!
SWIMMER EXPECTATIONS - Parents, please take a moment this week to remind your swimmer of proper behavior and following instruction. Swimmers need to pay attention to those helping them get lined up and staged, as well as the coaches. remind them when they are done with a swim they need to go back to the bullpen area.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE MEET WITHOUT CLEANING UP YOUR AREA AND TAKING ALL YOUR BELONGINGS!!!
Patience, Grace and Good Sportsmanship...last but not least, we ask that ALL of our parents and swimmers come to the meet with a positive attitude, ready to have a good time and show good sportsmanship. . We appreciate all the smiles we've seen, and helpful and kind parents we've met. Parents, your swimmers will take their cues from you. Let's help them be the best and kindest they can be to their fellow athletes. We are ALL volunteers doing the best we can with what we have to work with, along with a common goal: providing a safe and fun summer swim experience for our kids. It will get hot and it will get long, but we can do this together!
GO MANTA RAYS!
See You Poolside!
